Planning Commission
Purpose
The primary purpose of the Planning Commission is to prepare a comprehensive plan for the orderly physical development of the lands within the exterior boundaries of the Reservation. The Commission holds public hearings and makes decisions on conditional use permit applications and makes recommendations to the tribal Board of Directors on subdivision and rezone applications, comprehensive plan adoption and amendments, and zoning code adoption and amendments.
Roles and Responsibilities
To gather information and guidance from Community Development staff and the community for use in drafting a plan which will direct development on the Reservation towards a shared vision for the future.
General
- Comprised of seven members; five Tribal Commissioners and two non-Tribal Commissioners, serving staggered three-year terms;
- Meets the first and third Wednesdays of every month starting at 5:30 pm;
- Holds public hearings for Conditional Use permit applications;
- Makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on Subdivision and Rezone applications and Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code amendments;
- Holds Commission Meetings twice monthly on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday and are open to the public;
- Administers Planning Commission By-Laws, Commission Code of Ethics.
Regular meetings are held in training room 2-C (second floor) and Public Hearings are held in conference room 162 (first floor), of the Tribal Administration Building located at 6406 Marine Drive, Tulalip, WA 98271.
