Tulalip Tribes Win Verizon Foundation Award
TTL’s Tribal Health & Wellness Web Site - an innovative approach to tribal healthcare needs
Tulalip, WA November 1, 2002 –
The Verizon Foundation has awarded the Tulalip Tribes a Community Technology Development grant of $15,000. This funding will be administered through the Everett Community College Foundation and applied to the initial development of a Tribal Health and Wellness Web Site.

Tribal employees Michelle LeClaire and Angela Carpenter view a health related web site, as TTL begins planning its tribal health and wellness web site pilot project.
The pilot project will be a creative technological approach to some of the social and healthcare needs of the Tulalip Tribes. The web site will help to provide important healthcare information to tribal members by:
- Highlighting necessary medical tests;
- Establishing an appointment reminder system;
- Providing online family immunization records; and
- Creating a standardized form for recording and disseminating information to different healthcare providers.
Tulalip Technology Leap (TTL) will work closely with tribal healthcare staff and tribal members to develop an easy-to-use application that is secure, confidential and current. Emphasis will be placed on maintaining confidentiality of personal information, while still providing an accessible database of information. Once the prototype is developed, it will be tested and evaluated for the next phase.
This innovative project will ensure that the Tulalip Tribes will become a leader in the provision of timely and efficient healthcare information to tribal members.
