Tulalip Broadband - Projects

Fiber Optic Ring Infrastructure

In order to increase capabilities and provide improved cable television and data services for members, customers and governmental offices, Tulalip Broadband embarked on a project of building a new fiber optic infrastructure. This fiber optic infrastructure is comprised of a 288-count fiber optic ring that completely encircles the Tulalip Reservation. This infrastructure is designed to accommodate the current and future service requirements of the Tulalip Tribes and its customers. This project includes components such as aerial and underground (conduit) fiber installation, coax cable installation, fiber optic cable splicing, vault installation, power supply installation and permitting and other required components.

Resort Telephony and Entertainment Systems Development/Infrastructure

The Resort Entertainment System is being designed to deliver the latest in free to guest television service, VOD (Video on Demand), PPV (Pay per View) movies and events and hotel guest information channels. The system will utilize a coax cable distribution infrastructure that originates from Tulalip Broadband’s cable television network. The resort telephony is a VoIP system with a local media gateway connected via fiber optics to the Tulalip Broadband telephone system backbone. This upgrade will bring enhanced capabilities, lower operational costs, promote ease of management and establish more efficient dialing plan coordination. Each of the guest rooms has two phones: the bedside phone is a basic VoIP set with minimum features, and the desk phone is an enhanced VoIP set with a color display screen that allows for more guest features and is also enabled for “push” applications. These applications include on-property promotions (restaurants, spa, shows, etc.), customized and automated guest welcoming screens and messages, and advertising space for local businesses (Seattle Premium Outlets, Amphitheatre, etc.).
