Message from the Manager Herman Williams Jr.
I am happy to announce the arrival of the Tulalip Tribes Housing Departments (TTHD) new garbage truck. We are in the process of delivering your new 96 gallon trashcans. Once the new state of the art playground is completed we will have an official ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing. The park will be named after the original home owner of the log house that was adjacent to the park "Effie Choisl Park". Watch for the announcement in the See-Yaht-Sub.
The Mission Highlands construction of 25 homes is going well! All of the roads sewer and water lines are completed and several homes are at different levels of construction. I walked through a couple of the homes. In my opinion these home are going to be very nice with large living areas. If you get a chance drive through and take a look!
The beginning of January 2008 we will start putting new sidings on the homes in Silver Village. We are already in the process of re-roofing some of our older units. We are getting design concepts for the homes in the Church site. We will be remodeling some of the single family homes on Ezra Hatch Road. The ones closest to the bay will become single story duplexes for the elders. Those closest to Marine View Drive will be two story duplexes all with a view of Tulalip Bay.
I would also like to thank all of the housing staff for pulling together and making a team effort to achieve our goals and objectives: Again I would like to take the opportunity to thank Les Parks and his maintenance crew for doing such a wonderful job in performance of their duties. The housing sites look 110% better. Thanks to Lyle Reeves, Leon Enick, Mike Monger, George Reeves, Donald Hatch III; Shirley "Dodie" Jones and her staff Jennifer Merrival, Michele Miller, Carrie Enick, Dorothy "Topo" Jones, Juan Gomez, and Deloris "Dee Dee" Parks for making our tenants feel more comfortable and welcome when they come to our office to help with their concerns and issues; Vince Henry, Toni Ambrose, Crystal Reyes, Justin Scalf for keeping "Mission Highlands" development site on pace for completion date; Nancy DeCoteau my Administrative Assistant who keeps us on the straight and narrow according to NAHASDA/HUD rules and regulations. I want to take the opportunity to announce the latest addition to the Tulalip Tribes Housing Department Team, Norma Razote, our new Finance Coordinator. I am very happy to have her with us. She already proved to be a great asset. I believe I have a great team to work with. Thanks! to all my staff.
Now, I would like to thank Charles Anderson for all the effort and hard work that his done for the Tulalip Tribes and the Housing Department. Chuck will be ending his tenure as the Housing Department Executive Director at the end of December 2007. Chuck will continue on as a consultant to the Housing Department, Shelly Lacy and the BOD. Chuck was instrumental in resolving the Audit Findings that occurred in 2004. He introduced the Housing Department and the BOD to the "Low Income Tax Credits" program. I personally want to thank you Chuck for all you’ve done for my tribe and my people "My Hand Go Up to You!" And wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
"Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year! Be Safe!"

Greetings to all! I am the Manger of the Tulalip Tribes Housing Department. It’s a very exciting time to be in the Housing Department. Currently we have most of the infrastructure in at Mission Highlands. We will start the construction of the 25 homes with Tax Credit dollars. We have 16 homes set aside for the Self Help Housing Program through Housing Hope. This program is for Low-income families who can meet the eligibility criteria. The participants can put in 30 hrs. Per week of what’s called “sweat equity labor contribution”. We need to get 6 - 8 families qualified as soon as possible. These families will work as a team building each others home. Housing Hope has a very Low Interest rates. So if you are interested come into the Housing Office and sign-up.
TTHD purchased a new garbage truck so now our garbage crew won’t have to throw sacks of garbage over the rails of our 1 ton-truck. Our tenants will be getting one 96 gallon garbage can. So look forward to seeing our crew in their new garbage truck.
We will be putting new playground equipment and other upgrades in all of our housing sites. Soon we will be remodeling ten of our single family units in the Church site. These ten homes will be turned into duplexes an increase in ten more homes. The Silver Village we will be replacing defective siding and some of the roofs.
So it’s been very exciting working in housing. I look forward to doing more positive things for our tribal housing community. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please call me at 360-651-4580. Thanks! Herman Williams Jr., TTHD Manager
